Clarke County yoshukai Karate

Clarke County Yoshukai Karate is led by Sensei Sherrie Hines, a local attorney and a 3rd Degree Black Belt and Certified Yoshukai Karate instructor through the World Yoshukai Karate Kobudo Organization (WYKKO). Sensei Hines, through a partnership with the Heard Community Center (FKA as the East Athens Community Center), offers free karate classes to the residents of Athens-Clarke County and surrounding areas. Classes began on March 28, 2011, and are taught by Sensei Hines along with her assistant instructors.  Classes are open to all, and new students are accepted on a rolling admissions basis. All classes are free, though students will be responsible for buying their own uniforms, equipment, and weapons (as they need them) and paying their own membership and testing fees to the WYKKO.

No experience or athletic ability is required.  Each student is judged based on their own improvement and development within the style, and each student moves at his or her own pace.  Yoshukai karate can provide skills and training for a wide range of individuals, including seniors and people with certain disabilities.
