ANNOUNCEMENTS:

3/16/2020 - CLASSES ARE CANCELED TEMPORARILY BECAUSE OF THE CORONAVIRUS EPIDEMIC. We apologize for any inconvenience and look forward to resuming classes as soon as the East Athens Community Center reopens. Remember to practice on your own while classes are suspended, and you can always email, text, or call Sensei Hines with questions in the interim. Osu!
Clarke County Yoshukai Karate is led by Sensei Sherrie Hines, a local attorney and
a 3rd Degree Black Belt and Certified Yoshukai Karate instructor through the World Yoshukai Karate Kobudo Organization (WYKKO). Sensei Hines, through a partnership with the East Athens Community Center, offers free karate classes to the residents of Athens-Clarke County and surrounding areas. Classes began on March 28, 2011, and are taught by Sensei Hines along with her assistant instructors.  Classes are open to all, and new students are accepted on a rolling admissions basis.

All classes are free, though students will be responsible for buying their own uniforms, equipment, and weapons (as they need them) and paying their own membership and testing fees to the WYKKO.

No experience or athletic ability is required.  Each student is judged based on their own improvement and development within the style, and each student moves at his or her own pace.  Yoshukai karate can provide skills and training for a wide range of individuals, including seniors and people with certain disabilities.

Clarke County Yoshukai is always accepting new students.  Athens Yoshukai, our sister-school founded by Sensei Erik Hofmeister & currently taught by Sensei Hali Serrian, only accepts students at certain times throughout the year, but Clarke County Yoshukai accepts students year-round. Please come check out one or both of our dojos as we'd love to have you join our classes! And for Athens-Clarke County Employees, remember that participation at Clarke County Yoshukai is approved by the ACCGov Wellness Program!
