WYKKO Traditional Tournament - March 26, 2011

I'm happy to report that the WYKKO Traditional Tournament was a huge success this year!  Fun times were had by all, and while it was sad to be competing for the last time on behalf of Athens Yoshukai under Sensei Hofmeister, I could not have been more proud of my fellow students.  Videos and photographs are up on facebook (with more coming soon), but to name a few highlights, Athens Yoshukai students Ken Blumreich, Dala Griffith and myself presented excellent self defense routines.  Dala won first place in weapons kata with his phenomenal nunchuck performance, despite having likely broken his toe during his self-defense routine!  There were two impressive match ups in the semi-knockdown fights, the first between David Register and Daniel Williams and the second between Matthew McCandless and Russell Goetz.  Ben Dawkins took first place in open-hand kata, as we all had no doubt he would!  And that is only the tip of the iceberg!  Congratulations to all of the competitors for showing excellent skill, courage, heart and spirit!  Osu!
