Arrive early enough to be ready when the class begins. Each class begins with a warm-up and stretching; however, if you need additional time to stretch or warm-up prior to class you will need to be there early enough to ensure you have that time.
Remove your shoes and socks before stepping into the Dojo. Classes are taught in the gym on the main floor of the Heard Community Center except during basketball season (the winter) when we often have to meet in the aerobics room on the second floor.
Bow upon entering and leaving the Dojo.
Always be helpful and courteous to all students of all ranks.
Address Black Belts as Sensei, Mr., Mrs., or Ms.
Wear a clean and repaired Dogi at all times (once you have committed to training and purchased a dogi).
Keep your finger and toe nails short and clean at all times.
Do not wear jewelry of any kind during training, except for wedding bands. Fitness trackers are allowed.
Do not use profanity or loud talking in the Dojo.
No horseplay in the Dojo.
Never lose your temper in the Dojo.
Never leave the class for a break, water or any early dismissal, except with permission of the Sensei. However, if you feel that you are about to be sick or are having any other serious and immediate problem then, of course, please leave the floor immediately.
Do not spar or handle weapons without permission from your instructor.
Pay your association dues and testing fees on time.
Any student using his or her skills inside or outside of the Dojo in an irresponsible manner will be expelled from the Dojo at the discretion of Sensei Hines. Training in Yoshukai Karate is a privilege, especially given that instruction is free, and students who behave irresponsibly or dangerously will not be tolerated.
Pay strict attention to class: run rather than walk (example: when getting your weapons or being directed to another area of the Dojo).
